B2 - C1

Level B2 caters to independent users of the language, i.e. those who have the necessary fluency to communicate effortlessly with native speakers. It is important to keep in mind that the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) is the system that defines and explains the different levels of spoken and written expression and understanding for languages such as English. It consists of 6 reference levels: three blocks (A or Basic User, B or Independent User and C or Expert User), which in turn are divided into two sub-levels, 1 and 2.

Competencies at level B2
Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his area of expertise.
Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers entirely possible without strain for either party.
Can produce clear, detailed writing on a wide range of topics and explain a point of view on a topical issue, pointing out the advantages and disadvantages of different options.

Level C1 corresponds to native speakers, i.e. those who can perform complex tasks related to work and study. SKILLS AT LEVEL C1
One of the questions you might ask yourself when you read this information is what language skills characterize a person who can prove that they have a C1 level in English? CEFRL defines the following:
He/she can understand a wide range of more demanding, longer texts and recognize implicit meaning in them.
He/she can express himself/herself freely and spontaneously without much obvious searching for the right expression.
He/she can use the language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. He/she can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex topics, showing the correct use of organizational patterns, relationships and cohesive devices.
